About Mark

Who is Mark Negron?

Mark Negron was raised in Somerset (Franklin Township), New Jersey, and focused on sports such as soccer and basketball, and his education. Although Mark liked dancing as a child, he was not able to take dance lessons in school because he was stereotyped. Mark began dancing professionally at the age of 25. Mark returned to school to continue his Exercise Science degree. He decided to take a dance course because it seemed fun yet challenging.

In his younger years as a child, he grew up with a learning disability called Auditory Processing Disorder. Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is a disorder of the auditory (hearing) system that causes a disruption in the way that an individual’s brain understands what they are hearing. It is not a form of hearing loss, despite showing difficulty with hearing-related tasks. This learning disability was hard for Mark to work with others because they didn't understand or know what the disability was. Years go by and Mark manages to accept the disability for his advantage in life.

Before becoming a dance major, he was also studying two other subjects. He studied communication in college to become a motivational speaker. Because he developed leadership skills and learned how to lead, Mark gained confidence and found himself in this field. In the end, he chose Exercise Science because that was what he loved most, fitness. As a side job, he became a personal trainer using what he learned from Exercise Science. In order to focus on himself before going back to school, he dropped out of school after two years of trying to finish his exercise science degree.

The dance program at Raritan Valley Community College encouraged Mark to become a dancer and choreographer because it helped him express emotions through dance movements that give powerful meaning to the audience. He now works hard with Loretta Fois, Marissa Aucoin, Lauren Beirne, and Kathleen Amalfitano in technique classes. Mark took classes such as Modern, Ballet, Choreography, Ensemble, Eurhythmics, Dance History, and Dance Improvisation courses from Raritan Valley Community College. He was a member of the Raritan Valley Dance Ensemble, touring local K-8 schools and senior centers. Mark's performance experience includes dancing in the RVCC student concerts. His interest in dancing is evident in his strong and powerful movements. He teaches friends and relatives how to put rhythm in dance giving them positive energy. He loves small, short creative movements in his choreography. In some cases, he forgets the phrase and moves on, but later he brings it back and incorporates it into his choreography.

Mark will be graduating from Raritan Valley Community College and will receive his AFA dance degree in spring 2023. After Mark graduates from RVCC, he plans to attend Rutgers University to continue his education in The Mason Gross Dance Program in New Brunswick, NJ. He hopes to complete his education and be able to open a dance studio and be a choreographer.

A few fun facts about Mark are when he was in high school, he enjoyed the fitness lifestyle and was always into fitness. As a whole, he is a playful, expressive, insightful individual who continues to progress in life. In addition to dancing, he loves to travel, meet new people, collect Trading Card Games, and become a social media influencer. Creative and passionate about his choreography, he never settles for less when it comes to hard work and commitment. Due to his interest in mixed martial arts, sports, and workouts, he always had a fitness ambition.
